Dental Varnish

Dental varnish is fluoride varnish painted on to the child’s teeth to help prevent or reduce cavities.  The varnish has a pleasant taste, and is well tolerated by children.  You can expect dental varnish 6 times between tooth eruption and age 3½.  Most treatments will be performed during the child’s well child check.

The Oral Preventive Procedure consists of three equally important parts:

  1. Oral Evaluation and Risk Assessment
  2. Counseling with Primary Caregivers
  3. Application of Topical Flouride Varnish
